A UNDP report, in collaboration with REACH and TEPAV, reveals the resilience of women-owned businesses in Afghanistan despite severe challenges. Based on extensive research, it highlights discrimination, operational constraints, and a weakened financial system, forcing 41% into debt. Movement restrictions further hinder these entrepreneurs, with 73% unable to visit local markets without a male escort. Amid widespread food insecurity and low female employment, these businesses provide essential income and job opportunities, emphasizing their critical role in economic stability. The report also offers recommendations to support these entrepreneurs.
